Hrm. I will have to revisit the Clinton years, as my recollection of his tenure is more in line with Jim Hightower's-but I trust and respect your insights on a lot of things. Mildly exasperated that I didn't know about Dickson st. Books in Fayetteville, but we wouldn't have been able to make a side trip with the kids in the car anyway. And our part of Virginia has proven to have some pretty good used Bookstores as well. Arkansas does have some remarkable vistas and memorable locales, for sure. You've got a typo in the first sentence of the Road trip report, by the way-weather, not whether. ;) Glad Sonja's doing better, too.
Your trip is basically my lottery dream: hit the lottery, get a good car, hit the road, and never stop. (With the exception that I could stay in a town for a few days if there was more to see.)
There's a reason "Roadmarks" is one of my top two favorite Roger Zelazny novels.
Thanks for sharing these bits so we can live the dream vicariously.
Scenery-wise, Arkansas is really underrated.
Amen to that. Really breathtaking!

I prefer to go to one place and explore for a few days. This was new to me. I'm still adjusting. But it's been fun. I'm just missing home right now.
