I've been tied to a chair in a sketchy part of town, and let me tell you, it feels good to see the sky again! Honestly, I had no idea a new Superman was on the way.
Not for nothing, I decided to rewatch every episode of Dallas, and am currently about 1/3rd of the way through Season 10. It's every bit as over the top as you remember. There is no Dr. Pepper to be found.
I've been wondering if I should watch LANDMAN. I grew up in the southeastern New Mexico section of West Texas, so I've been curious about it. Thanks for the endorsement I'll check it out. As for the Superman trailer, they had me at Krypto. I have a theory about Superman's role in the American self-image, basically that how he is portrayed reflects how Americans feel about themselves and the country. Given the vibe I get from the teaser, it gives me hope that we have a chance of emerging into a more hopeful era
Ok, I had to correct a typo in my original comment. Interesting how one letter changed completely what I said. I meant "I'm NOW completely hooked." It's the most entertaining show I've seen in a while. It was written with BBT in mind as the the lead, and he's perfect.
It's oddly comforting, isn't it? Like, I don't need to be "seen" as a Texas (as I indicated), but I still feel seen when I watch that show. It's like he's writing TO Texans, rather than ABOUT Texans.
I like the concept of Christmas Feet. Still I hope you get something nourishing out of the holidays. Guy Gardner - have to admire the shutzpah of giving him that iconic look!
A friend who used to live out there gave it a good review on FB, so I took a stab. I'm now completely hooked. Mind you, I used to watch "Black Oil" years ago on Discovery, about drilling in West TX. Besides them having BBT seeming to combine several jobs besides the Landman, like tool pusher and others, it rings quite true.
I completely get how there are Texans and Oklahoma’s who wouldn’t want to watch the show because it’s too close to home. I’m always just so tickled anytime. Billy Bob Thornton is in something because it means if nothing else he will be a window into my soul for the duration of the show.

Wow, a Dallas rewatch! You’re a braver man than I, Gunga Din!

I said the same thing. He's always the reaction to the times, not the mirror of the times. We get the Superman we need.
Glad you liked Landman. I have really enjoyed it but its good to hear it chimes well with a Texan!
I would include it on a short list for anyone wanting a primer on Texas. Along with King of the Hill, of course.
Would be interested to hear the rest of that list!
That might make for a good post!
I like where your head is at.
DOCTOR Pepper? Mark, you are a lifelong Texan. It’s Dr Pepper.
I can never keep it straight. I also can never remember the punctuation, either.

As for Superman and Krypto, I'm just hoping we don't get Guy Gardner and Dex-Starr for one reason. "I don't have to watch it, Dottie. I LIVED it."

It was certainly a bold choice. I just wish Fillion got to play Guy Gardner 15 years ago. In his prime.
Yep into Landman , makes me think of ya'll over there , and Krypto's sold the film for me
I knew you'd be down for Krypto, Terry. You and I have similar tastes in comics.
