I was slow to warm to him, but this was the thing that made me go back through the last six or seven things he's done and realize that I've liked him for a while, now. He's really good in this.

Not that I know of , we are similar in that US comics first appeared in the newsagents on the spinner racks. As comic shops started to open up , as well as online shops , and Marvel and DC started to reprint over here , they disappeared off the shelves. Of course we were used to UK comics coming out weekly but they gradually went monthly too.
My wife is firmly in the "If Kieran Culkin's in it, I'll watch it" camp, so I suspect this'll be on in our house soon enough.

I realize I don’t know a thing about how the UK does it. Is there a book over there that goes into the history?
