Out of the Past is so freaking good that it leaves me blinking in awe every time I watch it. I like Tourneur's other movies that I've seen, but OotP is his masterpiece.
It may not be THE gold standard, but it's certainly A gold standard. I would be weirded completely out if someone claiming to be into Film Noir didn't like that movie. It's my favorite Mitchum performance, hands down.

Tonally speaking, we couldn't have watched two movies by the same director that were farther apart. I am excited to start recording!
