It’s safe to say that the most recent field excursion has been a resounding success on every level: personal, professional, ecumenical, and even matrimonial. Most of the field reports have been filed and we are expecting a final summary in the near future. I have been told there will be more pictures, and if I have my druthers, they will come from the Director of Bunker Operations, as she is a far more adroit field photographer than myself. That summary, and any relevant commentary, will appear on the blog very soon.
Many of you have asked about the impending nuptials and were somewhat shocked to learn that we have, in fact, set a date: April 1st, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Graceland Wedding Chapel (subject to availability), time TBD. The chapel only fits 30 people, so I may need to institute a needlessly complicated lottery system to see who gets in and who doesn’t.
A Return to Bunker Normalcy
Now that the gallivanting and future-life-planning is over and done with, we can all get back to making merry here at the N.T.A.B., and that includes moving forward with both the podcast on Substack and the role-playing game content on Patreon. There will be weekly updates from here on out, interrupted only by personal appearance scheduling conflicts (see below).
Summer Appearances (tentative)
This is, of course, subject to change, but for now, the month of June is completely booked:
June 2-5 North Texas RPG Con Irving, TX
June 9-12 Robert E. Howard Days Cross Plains, TX
June 24-26 SoonerCon Oklahoma City, OK
I’ll be at these shows, pressing the flesh and talking about existing and upcoming projects.
In Other News...
At the risk of sounding condescending, I’m finding it very hard to talk about the trip with people who haven’t been there. Not in a snobby or intellectual way; rather, I’m finding my own words inadequate to the task of explaining the thrum of being amidst two-thousand year old ruins, made by the inventors of western civilization, and feeling that you are standing in a spot that is a B.C. spot, rather than an A.D. spot...it’s humbling. Made all the more humbling and awe-inspiring by my own triumphs in ascending and navigating steep mountain climbs and hikes over extremely uneven terrain...oh, and the embarrassment of realizing that the Greeks were running up and down these rough-hewn stone steps, bare-ass naked, glistening with goat fat, and realizing how very far you still have to go in your fitness regimen.
I’ve got a couple of pages of notes to share, along with some photos to caption. However, I’m still kind of downloading the experience, so if you’ll bear with me, I’ll attempt to dazzle you later with my clever bloggery. I just experienced something life-changing and I think I need it to bounce around in my head a bit longer.
Ah to be a Greek running through the streets nekkie... lol I am a tad jealous. My international travel is slim comparatively.
It's like this post was predicted by our DM's from just minutes ago! Good on you for everything! I'm really happy for you.
