Weekly Briefing from the North Texas Apocalypse Bunker, 4/21/23

While the newly-wedded staff members here at the North Texas Apocalypse Bunker did not specify nor discuss going on the traditional “honeymoon” after they jumped the proverbial broom, we have been, as the saying goes, “Taking ‘er easy” since our return from the Electronic Wonderland of Vice and Graft, Las Vegas. However, Administration has several pressing projects that require his immediate attention and this means that communication from the bunker in the next few weeks will be brief, if not clipped, in an effort to minimize chin wagging and maximize key pounding. Briefings from the boys in the Division of Media Review should continue, albeit with the same eye towards brevity, as we are declaring an All Hands on Deck Condition Orange until the projects have been completed.

Pupdate, April 2023

We are both taking it easy. This looks pathetic, I know, but she intentionally squeezed herself under the bed like that.

The Bunker Mascot has been on a series of ups and downs lately, most of them digestive in nature; her food either goes back out the way it came in, or it shoots through her like marbles in a rain gutter. We are stymied; she’s not eating anything other than her approved diet, and she goes several days without an incident, lulling us both into thinking this has passed. We have looked at every external factor we can think of, and we’ve tried a number of possible solutions, to no avail. Currently, Sonya is on an anti-nausea med and charcoal tablets. It seems to have worked for the short term. We remain hopeful that it’s just a random thing and not a chronic problem. She’s old, and certainly it would be possible that she’s developed a complication in keeping with her age. I’m just not ready to put that on the table yet.

I’m quite excited to share this. Blood & Thunder: The Life and Art of Robert E. Howard, has been translated into Spanish. I also just signed a deal to have the book translated into Portuguese. If I can get French next, then the book will be readable from Canada to Brazil. Long overdue, if you ask me. I’m going to try and find time to create an audio version myself, reading it as I do.
